Role overview

What you'll be stepping into

To support the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Government collaboration software, data-centre infrastructure, and related digital services deployed across different data centres.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in managing and maintaining Data Centre hardware, applications, services, and operating systems.

  • Support the development of dashboards and operational reports covering system availability, resource utilization, incidents, and service performance.

  • Assist in designing and acquiring tools for the proactive identification and resolution of system errors, ensuring efficient use of resources.

  • Participate in the staging, testing, deployment, user acceptance testing, and technical handover of applications and infrastructure services.

  • Assist in developing scripts and lightweight automation tools to improve system monitoring, reporting, data processing, and routine administrative tasks.

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support to internal and external customers on a 24/7/365 basis.

  • Support the development and implementation of application policies and procedures and monitor compliance with established standards.

  • Assist in ensuring that server operating systems, storage systems, and applications are updated with the latest patches, security updates, and antivirus protection.

  • Support the implementation, integration, and maintenance of Data Centre applications, storage systems, cloud platforms, virtualization platforms, and other infrastructure technologies.

  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, Software Engineering, or another closely related field.

  • Relevant professional certifications or technical training in IT service management, systems administration, networking, cloud computing, virtualization, cybersecurity, or data-centre technologies will be an added advantage. These may include certifications or training from Microsoft, Linux, VMware, Huawei, AWS, or equivalent providers.

Experience

  • At least six months of practical, hands-on experience in an IT-related role.

Technical Competencies

  • Foundational knowledge or practical experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Data-centre operations

    • Linux or Windows Server administration

    • Networking

    • Cloud computing

    • Virtualization

    • Storage systems

    • Databases

    • Infrastructure monitoring

    • Cybersecurity

    • Artificial intelligence

    • Automation

  • Knowledge of scripting or programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, JavaScript, or similar technologies will be an added advantage.

  • Exposure to containers and application deployment tools such as Docker will be an added advantage.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills.

  • Structured troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to learn and adapt to unfamiliar technologies quickly.

  • Ability to work effectively in supervised and multidisciplinary technical teams.

  • A security-conscious approach to managing systems and data.

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in safety-critical or regulated environments.

  • Interest in automation, innovation, and continuous service improvement.
